Who we are

The Village app is made by Zalmoxis Limited, the data controller. Company details are on getvillageapp.com/app/legal.

What stays on your phone

Your due date and the places you save. The app keeps these on your phone and never sends them to us.

If you tap Use my location, your phone works out the nearest city once. Your location is not stored and never leaves the phone.

What the app sends us

Listings: the app downloads the directory from app.getvillageapp.com. The download carries no account, name or identifier.

Request access: tapping Request access on Track with your partner sends us four things. A random install ID made on your phone, your city, the listing you were looking at, and your stage (early, middle or late pregnancy, or after birth). We use them to count interest in the feature.

If you add an email to that request, we store it to send your invite, and we stop storing your stage for that request. We don't use the email for anything else.

Usage counts: the app tells us when it opens, when you finish setup and when you open a listing. It also tells us when you tap Book or visit, Tell a friend, Report a problem or Suggest. We use these to see which cities and classes are worth building for. Each count carries a random ID made on your phone for counting only. It is separate from the Request access ID, so a count can't be matched to an email. It also carries your city, your stage (not your due date), the listing if there is one, and the app version.

Usage counts carry no name, email, location or advertising identifier. We don't store your IP address with them, and we don't link them to you. We use them only to count how the app is used, never for ads or to track you across other apps or websites. Deleting the app deletes the ID.

What we don't do

No accounts, no ads, no tracking across other apps or websites, and no selling of data.

Maps are provided by Apple Maps under Apple's privacy policy.

How long we keep it

Request access records are kept until the feature launches or you ask us to delete them, whichever comes first.

Usage counts are kept for as long as we run the app. They can't be traced back to you, so there is nothing for us to look up or send you.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, or have it deleted. Email [email protected] with the email you gave us and we'll do it.

You can also complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).
